Automatic transmission is a sensible way to reduce driving strain and promote road safety. An automatic gearbox takes over the task of selecting the transmission ratios and changes between gears based on various parameters defined by the driver (throttle position, speed, etc.). Modern automatic transmissions have 5, 6 or 7 gears.
SEAT models use electronic controls with a range of driving modes to compensate for the less favourable efficiency of automatic transmission compared to manual transmission and to ensure a beneficial level of fuel consumption.
